A blood service may be a member of the European Blood Alliance if it meets the following requirements:
- it is the national service or is an alliance of blood services that represents the majority of blood establishments in the country;
- the country in which its main activities are based is a member of the European Union or European Free Trade Area;
- its activities are based on the principle of the voluntary and non-remunerated donation of blood, without any form of profit
- the blood service focuses on the public interest
Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Ukraine and America Blood Centers are observer members of the EBA.
