The Luxembourg Red Cross operates the unique blood center to meet the demand for blood components. It has a national responsibility to supply all blood and plasma products requested by the hospitals.
All donors are unpaid volunteers.
They are regularly invited to give their blood, platelet or plasma when they are eligible again.

To recruit new donors, we organize:

• recruitment events like a stand in fairs
• Advertising campaigns
• presentations of the blood establishment for schools, in order to raise younger people’s awareness

To encourage donors to continue giving their blood, we organize each year an event where medals are awarded to individuals who have reached a certain number of donations.
Some donors (depending on the employer) can have paid time off from work.
