By law the health care in Denmark is the responsibility of the five regions. Also by law only public owned hospitals are allowed to collect blood. Representing Denmark in EBA is the Organisation of Transfusion Centres in Denmark.
The OTCD was established in 2001 to coordinate countrywide responsibility for the blood transfusion services and to represent the interests of blood programme of the country. The members of the OTCD represent 100 % of blood collection in Denmark.
On behalf of OTCD, representatives from the Odense University Hospital and from Rigshospitalet Copenhagen are current EBA Board Members.
