EU Directives Working Group

Since its creation in 2015, the Blood Directives WG contributes to the different steps of the revision of the Blood Directive.

The Blood Directives WG prepares EBA position on the proposed revision of the Blood directives, and conveys it to the EU institutions and key stakeholders. In doing so, it represents the views of the European non-profit blood establishments.

Objectives and activities

Key objective for the WG is to develop and propose Executives and Board recommendations for an EBA position regarding revisions of the related Directives. The WG has also formulated a general approach, as well as exact proposals and amendments for the Regulation on Substances of Human Origin (SoHO) after the publication of the proposal by the European Commission.

This WG also promotes the EBA position by producing information material and as needed join meetings with EU Institutions.

The WG also monitors and when needed develops and proposes Executives and Board recommendations for an EBA position regarding legislative and policy initiatives relevant to the blood directives, e.g. the revision of the EU General Pharmaceuticals legislation.

The Blood Directives WG meets regularly to exchange on the latest updates from the EU institutions regarding EBA members’ activities, and to draft common positions and analysis of legislative and policy evolutions.

EBA has organized two events in the European Parliament in the last years.
